You have a hard time remembering the words you know when you most need them? #7th technique.

Are you not struggling with learning new words but struggling with remembering them?

You have a hard time remembering the words you know when you most need them?

Finding the words that you need at the moment you need them is the struggle of every language learner. So, if you are not struggling to learn new words but struggling with remembering them or recalling them when you need them, try this technique and it will help you.

**** Seventh Technique: ****
————————————-

– Investigate word origins

If you struggle less with finding new vocabulary words
and more with just remembering them, try your hand at a little etymology (the study of the origin of words and the way in which their meanings have changed over time)

It may help to associate a new vocabulary word with its origins.
For example, the English word “HIPPOPOTAMUS” is derived from the Greek words “ippos” horse and “potamas” river, associating “hippopotamus” with “river horse” gives you a strong visual and may help you recall the word more easily.

Looking up the origins or literal meanings of words and expressions will paint a mental picture that you can look back on, rather than just relying on mechanical memorization.

So, try to apply this technique with whatever words you want to learn.
